University Identification Cards

POLICY

All identification cards ("ID cards") are the property of Brigham Young University–Hawaii checked out to students, faculty, staff and their dependents. A limited number of special ID cards are distributed to various entities in the community and may also be revoked by the university at its discretion. No one should have more than one valid card at a time. Regardless of the date on the card, the card expires automatically when the individual no longer meets the requirements of enrollment, employment, or relationship under which the card was issued.

Different types of ID cards allow different privileges, expiration periods, and costs. For an explanation of these privileges, see ID Card Benefits.

IMPLEMENTATION

1.1 Student ID Cards


A student ID card will be issued to all students following verification of enrollment, and will be renewed periodically during continued enrollment.

1.2 Staff/Faculty/Administrator


An ID card is available to administrators, staff, and faculty upon notification of hire from Human Resources.

1.3 Spouse/Dependent Cards


ID cards issued to the spouse and immediate family members living at home up to 26 years of age.

1.4 Special Cards


An ID card is available to full-time missionaries and volunteers serving the university, and other guests as authorized by a member of the President’s Council. Other ID card types to various entities as follows:

  • Alumni of 24 credits or more and/or graduated from our BYU–Hawaii.
  • Temporary hires and special instructors, an ID card is available to all temporary hires and special instructors upon notification of hire from Human Resources.
  • Retiree/spouse, an identification card is available to retiree and their spouse upon notification of retirement from Human Resources.
  • Aloha VIP, approved by the President’s Council is an ID card available to Laie Hawaii Temple presidency, and Hawaii Reserves, Inc., Laie Community Association Board, and Polynesian Cultural Center (PCC) executive teams.
  • PCC PE, 20 selected employee names submitted from PCC.
  • Visitor’s pass, approved by the President’s Council or vice president.
  • Pool pass, for swimming pool usage only for all ages 6 years and up.
  • YSA, an identification card available for young single adults that are non-students and must be endorsed by the bishopric of their home ward.
