Payments Following the Death of a Full-Time Employee
This policy provides guidance regarding the determination and payment of a deceased employee’s final salary payment.
Upon the death of a full-time employee of Brigham Young University–Hawaii ("university"), the university will make payment, within three working days, of any earned salary and unpaid vacation to the spouse or surviving children or estate of a full-time employee who dies while employed at the university. This is in addition to the voluntary gift from the university, when appropriate.
Full-time employee – this includes faculty, administrative staff and regular full-time staff.
Voluntary gift – this is a monetary amount, determined by the university, which is paid to the surviving spouse or dependent children.
